Between grocery trips, fixing things around the house, going to work, making all the meals, racing thoughts, [omg did I remember to file my taxes?!], running last minute errands…who has time for anything else in their day!?
Life seems to get in the way of…well, life.
If you’re like me, the idea of adding another event to the calendar can give you anxiety and force you to play a strategic chess game. The voice in my head runs wild…’you can go out on Tuesday and move Tuesday’s events to Wednesday…but then Wednesday will have to be split between tonight and Thursday…‘ and so on. The thing is, the fun stuff…those random drinks with friends…the quick bites to eat…those are the things that keep us all sane. Those events should be #1 and give you joy when you add them to the list!
Slowing Things Down
To quote Ferris Bueller, “life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” In a world of smart phones, microwave dinners, and non-stop errands…why not stop for a little while, slow down, and sip a fine martini at a gorgeous location in Kansas City. It could be a dive bar or a 5 star restaurant…either way, if it makes you slow down and enjoy time with friends, it becomes the most beautiful place in KC.
I get it, it’s hard to do. Sometimes the idea of putting on my comfy clothes and binge watching TV sounds so much better than putting on pants and trying to find parking…BUT, like a kid taking a bath, once I’m there I’m glad I went.
Planning Fun Events
My life has been extra crazy lately (including almost 2 weeks in bed with a nasty case of the flu), but I’m ready to get back out there and meet more AOIIs! Spring is here and who doesn’t love drinks on a patio?! I’m changing up my outlook and deciding that the latest episode of [insert literally any TV show name] is not more important than going out for an hour or two.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the next few events that we have coming up and watch our Facebook Page for the weekday random drinks or dessert somewhere in KC. I know I need it and I would absolutely love to see everyone there! Don’t let the ‘smart-phone-microwave-generation’ life get in the way of, life.
Have a great Easter weekend!
