Our AOII Founders’ Day celebration was held on December 11. We had a great turnout with collegiates from the Delta Pi chapter at UCM and alums all celebrating our four founders together. We started our celebration with introductions since many new faces were in attendance. Then, President Kate read the Founders’ Day message from the AOII Executive Board. Cara, VP Fundraising, read the Ruby message reminding sisters of the many ways the Ruby fund can help sisters in need. We sang grace and then enjoyed quite a potluck lunch together.
After lunch was our candle-lighting ceremony which helped us recall each of our founders’ most notable traits and their inspiration behind the founding of AOII. Stella, Jessie, Elizabeth and Helen were brave women and their stories remind us how connected we all are.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, we had the honor of awarding both the Outstanding Collegiate and Outstanding Alumna awards for 2016. Marissa Pruitt was the Delta Pi chapter’s Leadership Council’s unanimous choice for Outstanding Collegiate of the year and Malinda Hillebrenner was awarded Outstanding Alumna for her work as an AAC with the Delta Pi chapter and commitment to her role as Collegiate Relations officer for the KCAOII.
Our luncheon concluded with photos of the whole group. A big thanks to VP Programs Katie Raymon for planning Founders’ Day for all of us to enjoy!
