A group of sisters from KC AOII spent part of their afternoon on Sunday, Oct 18, 2015 making treats at Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City’s Cherry Street house, and due to a little confusion the Longfellow house too! We made a variety of different treats and enjoyed each other’s company over two hours. Here are some photos, and recipes, from the event!

Gina made her dad’s favorite Orange Nut Balls:
* 1 package of vanilla wafers (crushed)

* 1/2 pound of powdered sugar
* 1 stick of butter (melted)
* 6 oz. frozen OJ concentrate
* 1/2 c. chopped nuts
* Shredded coconut
Mix all the ingredients together. It will be sticky! If it’s TOO sticky, add some more powdered sugar. Form into balls and roll in coconut. Put in fridge to firm up if needed. Then snarf!

Kate & Kim made M&M Cookies:
1 1/3 c. butter flavored Crisco
1 c sugar
1 c brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Cream Crisco, sugar & brown sugar. Mix in eggs, then vanilla. In a different bowl, combine flour, salt & baking soda. Then add to the Crisco mixture. Add desired amount of M&Ms or chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoons onto baking sheet. Bake for 7 minutes until light brown on the top.

Jenny made cute orange pumpkins! Little cuties mini oranges, piece of celery.

As we get more recipes we’ll add them! Thanks to everyone who joined. See you at Founders’ Day!
