Congratulations to our Outstanding Alumnae, Judith Zivanovic! Judith was recognized at the Founders’ Day celebration of the Greater Kansas City Alumnae Group of Alpha Omicron Pi on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014.

She was initiated into Chi Lambda Chapter of the University of Evansville, where she received her B.A. in Speech/Theatre/Education. She received her M.A. and Ph. D. (Theatre/Dramatic Literature) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also has been recognized as a 50-year member of AOII.

She was professor and head of the Department of Speech and Theatre at South Dakota State University and Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences, Director of the Honors Program and Professor of Theatre at Kansas State University. The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at both SDSU and KSU bestowed on her its Faculty Artist Award and nominated her for the national Phi Kappa Phi Artist Award. She is the recipient of the Kennedy Medallion for her work with new play development for the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival. She is a Fellow of the Mid-America Theatre Conference.

She is on the Board of the Museum of Theatre Americana in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, whose theatre research conference she helped found 25 years ago. She is a playwright and has written more than 40 plays that have been performed throughout the U.S., including Kansas City; Columbia, Mo.; New York City; and on the West Coast.
