Chez Elle creperie near Downtown K.C. was the site for a delicious gathering on the day after Valentine’s Day.

On the Saturday after Valentine’s Day, apparently a lot of Kansas Citians were still celebrating the holiday because the line at Chez Elle creperie near Downtown K.C. was hopping. So while the line to order might have been a little longer than normal, it just gave all of the AOIIs in attendance that much more time to peruse the long and delicious-looking menu.

Meeting at 11 a.m. was the perfect opportunity to take advantage of either a morning latte or mocha or bloody Mary to complement the selection of savory and sweet crepes. (Decisions were so hard to make that some of us had to share two options because we simply couldn’t choose!)

We chatted for so long that the owner had to ask us to consolidate at a smaller table to allow other hungry patrons to get their chance at some of the yummy options. But we didn’t mind; we couldn’t blame others for wanting their chance to settle in and savor their own meals.

Talk ranged from recent legislative issues one sister has been following in the Kansas House to what another gal was looking for in a date (and also the details in setting her up with another sister’s coworker!) to what openings are available for officer positions and what the tasks involved are.

We even spent some time remembering how meetings have adapted to the times: from the days when we used to meet in other members’ homes, collect a dollar from each sister “for the kitty” and write our names in the “little spiral notebook” to today’s modern gatherings at popular, local watering holes, our satisfying philanthropic activities and super fun upcoming events such as the painting-and-wine-tasting event at Pinot’s Palette on Feb. 25.

Other cool events follow in the coming weeks: Two events in March (a Day Group meeting and a volunteer event at Harvesters), two events in April (a happy hour at Waldo Pizza and a Saturday lunch at Granite City in Olathe) and two final events in May before we take a break for the summer (the Walk to Cure Arthritis and another Day Group meeting).

It’s been fun so far, but we’ve got lots more to come! So mark your calendar and plan to join us SOON! We can’t WAIT to see you!
