About ten ladies from our alumnae group celebrate spring and Alpha Omicron Pi on Saturday at the Matt Ross Community Center in Overland Park. This building, by the way, is a beautiful community center with lots of meeting rooms of various sizes, a rec center, and even a pool! It's in a great location and was very reasonably priced. We're looking forward to using it again for future events.
We met in the Meadowlark Room and enjoyed subs from Lenny's. Everyone brought a side dish or dessert to share. After introductions were made, we realized that for such a small group, a wide variety of chapters were represented: Delta Alpha (Missouri), Beta Phi (Indiana), Iota Sigma (Iowa State), Chi Lambda (University of Evansville), and Phi (University of Kansas).
We planned to do officer installation at this meeting, however we still don't have a full slate of officers for the members to vote on. Our membership decreased this year by about four, and officers must be active, dues-paying members. We don't have a large pool to choose from, and many ladies have previously served in the past and aren't able to commit to serving again.
Currently, we are looking for candidates to fill the Vice President-Programs, Secretary, and Collegiate-Alumnae Relations positions.
If you paid dues during the 2009-2010 year, have been an active chapter participant, and are willing to serve the chapter in one of these roles, please contact current President Becki at becki{at}stutzmail{dot}com.
If you aren't qualified to serve as an officer for next year, but you're interested in the future, please make sure to pay dues next year! They're only $35, of which $25 is sent to International and the remainder stays with our local chapter.
We hope to send out a slate and ballot to all current members for officer elections in the near future, so be watching your mail or e-mail box for the information.
